Privacy Policy

Overview

This policy covers Scriptum for Mac and Scriptum for iPhone and iPad. Both run on your own device. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, and there is no account to create and no server of ours for your writing to pass through.

Data Collection

We do not collect any data. Scriptum has no analytics, no tracking, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporting service, and no third-party framework that gathers information about you or how you use the app.

Your Documents

Documents you create, edit, or open in Scriptum are stored on your device, in the folders you chose. Scriptum edits ordinary Markdown files in place. It does not copy them into a hidden container, and it never sends them to us or to any third party.

Sync Between Your Devices

Scriptum can pass documents from the Mac to the iPhone and iPad app. This is off until you turn it on, in Settings on the Mac.

When it is on, documents you open on the Mac are written to your own iCloud Drive, in a container tied to your Apple Account, where the app on your other devices reads them. Apple handles that storage and transfer under Apple's privacy policy. The developer operates no server, holds no key, and has no access to that container or its contents. Turning sync off stops any further copies from being written.

Network Access

Scriptum does not phone home. It contacts no service of ours, for any reason. The app makes network requests only in these cases, all of which you initiate:

• Sync, if you have turned it on, which talks to iCloud as described above.
• Remote images and links in your own documents. If a document references an image by URL, the preview loads it from that address, exactly as a browser would. If you open a link, it goes to your default browser.
• Standalone HTML export. A file you export as standalone HTML links to the KaTeX and Mermaid libraries on a public CDN, so that the math and diagrams render when someone opens the file in a browser. This affects the exported file, not the app. PDF export bakes everything in and needs no network.

Third-Party Services

Scriptum integrates no third-party analytics, crash reporting, or advertising frameworks. The rendering libraries it uses, including KaTeX and Mermaid, are bundled inside the app and run locally.

Children's Privacy

Scriptum collects no data from anyone, including children under 13. There is nothing to disclose, sell, or share, because nothing is gathered.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the revised version is posted on this page with a new date below. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
